All About Mission Direct

Mission Direct gives ordinary people the chance to do extraordinary things around the world. In two weeks you will change the lives of some of the world’s poorest people. You can help to build a house, classroom or clinic. We discover people and groups doing remarkable things in their own countries. Then we provide them the people and resources that they need. We do this by enabling people like you, with two or more weeks to join our life-altering trips.

Girl Power!

The semi-nomadic Maasai people of Southern Kenya and Northern Tanzania have remained distinct in their dress, customs and way of life through centuries of change around them.

However, one custom they adhere to in spite of Kenya’s laws is female circumcision or female genital mutilation (FGM). 90% of girls still undergo the rite of passage. Following this they are often forced into an early marriage, effectively ending their education. Their health and even their lives are risked by the operation, which is the most brutal form of FGM.

You will be building an alternative life for those girls who choose to flee from FGM. And you will also demonstrating to a proud people, many of whom are Christian, that their young women deserve more.
