Note for all under 18s applying to volunteer in Moldova travelling without their parents:
All under 18s travelling without their parents require a legal document prepared by a notary in order to travel overland to Moldova. This is in response to child trafficking which is a real issue in Eastern Europe at this time. Mission Direct are unable to accept applications from under 18s until this document has been presented with an application form.
In order to organise this, please contact your local solicitor - you require a notary to prepare this document for you and will need to explain that the document is to verify that the parents of the under 18 year old have given permission for another person (acting in Loco Parentis) to be responsible for their son/daughter.
Notary costs do vary widely. However, Mission Direct can recommend Burnand Brazier Tisdall Solicitors http://www.bbt-solicitors.co.uk/ on the South Coast who we have worked with in 2011 to prepare such documents at a cost of £50 per letter.
Please note that Mission Direct do not take responsibility for organising or paying for such letters to be prepared - this is the responsibility of the applicant.
We will help you raise all the money you need to go on a trip - most of our volunteers pay only a small proportion of this total and are able to raise over and above the contribution from supporters.
*Trip contribution is requested to cover all expenses. All further money you raise goes directly to the project.
