Mission Direct - Volunteers helping the world's poor

What you'll be doing

In 2010

Education, education, education

You will be completing work on the last two classrooms in Kiine School, offering a learning environment for some of Zambia’s poorest children, living in a nearby shanty town.

We are also working on a new school building project Garden Hill Community School was serves the shanty town of Garden in Lusaka, Zambia. The school provides primary education for 346 children aged 6 to 13, many of whom are orphans or vulnerable children.

The current property however is far from ideal, though.

Mission Direct plans to partner with Christian Alliance for Children in Zambia (CACZ),  to demolish the current building and erect a new purpose-built school.

Fresh starts everywhere…

Off duty in Zambia

During the trip there will be enough time off to enjoy some ‘Classic Africa’ experiences, including a safari in a local game park. Also you will be able to visit the magnificent Victoria Falls.

Restoring the gift of childhood

A proper childhood is a precious commodity. It is one that is cruelly denied to tens of thousands of children in Zambia. Due to poverty and AIDS, they are denied such basics as food, shelter and education. Most tragically, many children are even denied a loving family and left abandoned as street children.

With Mission Direct you can help to give some of these things back to Zambia’s children. You will be working on school building projects for primary school children from one of Zambia’s poorest townships, who would otherwise be denied any education at all. This is the first step out of poverty for these children and their families.
