Mission Direct - Volunteers helping the world's poor

House of Moses, Zambia

House of Moses, Lusaka , Zambia

The House of Moses is a baby rescue centre set up and supported by Alliance for Children Everywhere a Christian non-profit organization based in the USA..

It takes in and cares for abandoned babies and children from birth to 18 months. Babies are brought to the centre by hospitals, police, churches and individuals where no one is able or prepared to give the baby a home. House of Moses provides 24-hour nursing care to the tiniest of premature infants, helping their little bodies stabilize before placing them into extended families or adoptive homes Through House of Moses hundreds of Zambian babies have been rescued from death and given new life with Zambian families who will love and care for them.  See more on www.zambiakids.org

Volunteers are welcomed at House of Moses as there are always mouths to feed, nappies to change and lots of love and care needed to be given to the babies in the centre. On placement you will be part of the caring team under the direction of the nursing staff.

The centre is run to excellent standards and in 2003 was selected by UNICEF and the United Nations as a ‘Best Practice Model in Sub-Saharan Africa‘, due to its success in caring for premature and high risk infants.

The House of Moses contains dormitory accommodation for mission teams, where you will stay. You are provided with good clean multiple occupancy dormitory accommodation with beds, tiled floors, electricity and showers, along with western style food prepared by the HOM staff cooks.
