Mission Direct tackle poverty with the Rugby League

Had your fill of international football for a while? You may be interested to know that Mission Direct has been adopted as the official charity for the Rugby Leauge.

Our website address is about be seen by millions of rugby fans on pitch-side advertising at a series of televised national and international matches during the 2010 season. The banners read ‘tackle poverty with missiondirect.org’.rugby league

Mission Direct are also the benefactors of a major charity auction, to take place on the day of the Super League grand final. Among the items of sporting memorabilia expected to go under the hammer are football shirts signed by sporting legend Pele.

This sponsorship opportunity arose when a major advertiser folded in the recession, leaving their paid-for advertising slots unfilled for the season. Rugbyleague.com’s Marketing Manager Paul Faires heard about Mission Direct’s work in Moldova from a colleague.

“This is an exciting opportunity to gather new financial support and volunteers” said Mission Direct Communications Manager Ben Cohen (sadly no relation) “Rugby League football is thought to be the most physically demanding team sport in the world. It’s a chance for supporters and maybe even a player or two to step out of their comfort zones in another way.”

All About Mission Direct

Mission Direct gives ordinary people the chance to do extraordinary things around the world. In two weeks you will change the lives of some of the world’s poorest people. You can help to build a house, classroom or clinic. We discover people and groups doing remarkable things in their own countries. Then we provide them the people and resources that they need. We do this by enabling people like you, with two or more weeks to join our life-altering trips.
