A short introduction to those in the Anglican fold...
Archbishops – head of a province, a collection of dioceses – Most Rev Donald Bloggs. Dear Archbishop Donald. May be wearing red, black?
Bishops - head of a diocese, a collection of churches – Rt Rev John Smith. Dear Bishop John. May be wearing purple.
Deans – they run cathedrals. Very Rev Jeremy Smith. Dear Dean …
Archdeacons – deal with the fabric and nitty gritty of a diocese. Ven Gordon Jones. Dear Archdeacon… May be wearing a frown.
Canons – honorary title given by a diocese. Rev Canon Andy Lines. Dear Canon Lynes … May need to look active in the presence of ‘their’ bishop. May be wearing lacy shirt cuffs.
Prebendaries – something to do with independent Anglican churches. Rev Preb Michael Smythe Dear Preb Smythe …
Incumbent – boss of a church. Rev Alun Evans. Dear Mr Evans, or Dear Alun. Probably wearing a worried look (Note not Dear Rev...)
Curate – assisting the boss of the church. Address in the same way. Often wearing a far away look as he dreams of his own church.

New Clergy

Check he is new to RR: search on name and postcode
Check his proper name in Crockfords, perhaps he’s known by his second name but on the database under his first.
Check the church that he’s linked with – look at the link with their incumbent – he could already be there.

Add all details as with a layman and link him with the church.

Clergy already on RR at another location

Are you sure this is the same person or another with same name?
Homework: church papers, diocese web site, ring parish secretary, talk to RC of the other location, etc

Remember to keep intact the record of a person who just happens to be the incumbent.

Remember Stephen Brock!
a) Make note of old address on piece of paper (or Notepad if you are Martin)
b) Change SB address and link to church
c) Create new record for The Incumbent at SB’s old address.
d) If you know the name of the new incumbent, use that instead of The Incumbent.
e) If the new vicar is already on RR, keep that record intact and change to SB’s address

If the Old Address is in another region, work with the other RC. Person with info rings person without – they take initiative to make the changes. Co-ordinate this with the updating so that they do not clash.

Remember the rest of the world won't know about all your work unless you carry out the RR update procedure
