Each year we send skilled volunteers to work alongside our overseas project partners sharing their knowledge and expertise with local people in Sierra Leone, Uganda, Moldova and elsewhere.
Well trained medical, IT or teaching professionals are in short supply in poor and marginalised communities. And you can help change that!
By volunteering two weeks of your time with a Mission Direct specialist team you can share life changing skills with local nurses, doctors or teachers who are eager to learn. And, you can have a life-changing experience too by living and working amongst the poor.
Take a look at our list of specialist team opportunities and consider if you, or anyone else you know, would benefit from a trip like this.

Medical Missions
Are you an experienced healthcare worker? Nurses, doctors and other healthcare professionals at hospitals, surgeries and clinics of Rukungiri in Uganda want to learn from you. By sharing your expertise with these professionals you are passing on a body of knowledge that will be used to heal and even save lives, long after you have returned home. No expertise in tropical medicines is required.

Xtreme Teams
Xtreme Teams are new for 2010. They are for you if you would like to stretch yourself a little further than on our other projects.
You may find yourself sleeping in a mud hut or a tent and eating the local food. There will be fewer of the usual creature comforts in general. Also you will be spending more time at work on the building site.
However the rewards will be even greater: you will be living and working closely with local people and experiencing their life from the inside. Most importantly you will be transforming the lives of some of the neediest people in the world!
Rewired IT Teams
‘Re-wired’ has been equipping schools in Africa with computers and IT equipment since 2007. Our goal is to provide the same kinds of classroom facilities to children in Africa as our own children have in the UK. If you are an IT specialist could you help to install a network of computers at a school in Sierra Leone? Your efforts will build a lasting legacy.

Training Teacher Teams
Often teachers in Sierra Leone have to make a little go a long way. They have few books and teaching materials. To make things worse most of them have had very little training in how to teach effectively. If you are a trained teacher you have so much to offer these hardworking men and women. Better teaching skills mean more opportunities to inspire children and give them a better future.
