Giving To Us

Giving to us

Give your IT equipment a new lease of life
Every piece of equipment donated to Re-wired in the UK has immense value in Africa. Much of the equipment we use to equip schools and learning institutes in Africa has served its useful life in the UK either due to the end of warranty cover, or the requirement to upgrade to faster equipment to run newer applications. The average lifespan of a recycled computer Re-wired sends to Africa is three years and every single donation positively affects the lives of many African school children.

Preserving the Environment

Reuse of computers is the best form of recycling, and donating computers to Rewired helps to preserve the environment as well as meeting all your legal obligations. The production of a typical PC consumes 240kg of fossil fuels, 22 kg of chemicals and 1.5 tonnes of water. Reusing IT equipment saves energy and resources, prevents hazardous materials from ending up in landfill and is 20 times more effective at saving life cycle energy use than recycling.

Re-wired reuses working computers and recycles any defective machines in the UK. In addition, we work with distribution partners in Africa to ensure the computers are recycled at the end-of-life in the school or establishment they are being used in.
