You will be using your skills to install two IT suites across Uganda:
Your first port of call will be Kampala Children’s Centre. The vision behind the centre is to house, educate and care for at least 1000 orphans from within Uganda. The children are from war torn areas, slums and AIDS affected families.
Their aim is for the children to grow into healthy balanced adults, with the skills to support themselves and to become active and influential members of society when they leave the Centre. The opportunity to use computers and internet technology is a crucial part of this vision.
Then you will travel to Modern Primary School (link to page about Rukungiri in website) in Rukungiri in the South West of the country. Mission Direct has worked hard building the school, which houses 900 children. Many of them are orphans - often due to the epidemic of AIDS in this region and are fully looked after by the school. None of the children who attend Modern School would have any hope of an education otherwise.
An IT suite is no mere luxury for these children. It is their chance to acquire an invaluable skill and through this a future
During the free time you will visit a National Park and wind down with a short safari. So, pack your camera and get ready to spot lions, elephants, hippos and water buffalos.
