You will be using your skills to install an IT suite into a school in Sierra Leone.
Sierra Leone is one of the world’s poorest countries and has been ravaged by civil war. The chance to learn IT skills in school truly is a life-saver. It gives young people a hugely marketable skill that will help them to escape terrible poverty in years to come.
We will be installing a suite of computers to enable the young people to learn how to use spreadsheets, word processing and other basic computing skills. We will be linking them up to the internet, so they can have access to all the information that we take for granted, and can receive the benefits of the online-learning resources.
A lot of time will be spent passing on our skills to the teachers and pupils at the schools. You do not need to be a computer whizz, but a good understanding of IT will help.
In your free time you have the chance to experience an Africa that is far off the tourist trails. You can sample barbecued barracuda on the stunning unspoiled Burah Beach. You will also experience a trip of a lifetime to an unspoiled virgin rainforest.
Mission Direct gives ordinary people the chance to do extraordinary things around the world. In two weeks you will change the lives of some of the world’s poorest people. You can help to build a house, classroom or clinic. We discover people and groups doing remarkable things in their own countries. Then we provide them the people and resources that they need. We do this by enabling people like you, with two or more weeks to join our life-altering trips.
