To Henriette and Toby Howarth de Greef,  a daughter Tamar on 11th December 2001

To Rosie and Daniel Button, a son Alexander on 29th December 2001

 

Obituaries Eileen Francis served with BCMS in Burma during the 1930s. She escaped to India when war broke out by walking for nine days. Subsequently she was captured by rebels at gunpoint and held prisoner for two weeks and played her part in establishing a church amongst the Khumis. In all she was in Burma for nearly thirty years.

Eileen died in January, just two weeks short of her 91st birthday. She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Canon Rufus Francis.


Eva Davis trained at Dalton House, Bristol and served in West China from 1938-1951. She married Eustace Davis in 1941 and they had four sons and a daughter, Miriam, (who now serves with OMF in Japan). On their return they worked in English parishes, notably at Christ Church, Old Kent Road until they retired to Gloucester in 1985. Eustace was sometime BCMS Overseas Secretary. Eva died at the age of 89 in January.
