The Crosslinks Autumn Conference

 - A great and simple recipe by Richard Rogers

Ingredients:
  • 1 speaker to expound God's Word
  • 2 Crosslinks Mission Partners
  • A small helping of Crosslinks staff
  • Herbs of prayer, fellowship, worship and challenge
  • Spices of fun, laughter and relaxation, and comfort
  • Holy Spirit (to bind the ingredients)

Simply mix all the ingredients together in a beautiful and comfortable setting for five days. It will generously serve 60 to 70 people.

This year we the conference will be from Monday 4th November to Friday 8th November. Gervais Angel, who has recently retired as the SAMS coordinator for the South West Region will be giving the bible expositions and Nicky Darby will be there with some first hand accounts of life in Uganda. The Crosslinks Autumn Conference is a long-standing event held every November at Brunel Manor in Torquay, the heart of the English Riviera. If you have never been before you would be surprised at just how special an event it is. Unlike many conferences, numbers have deliberately been kept to about 70 people in order to create a warm friendly and informal atmosphere. Consequently, the programme is always a relaxed one, with plenty of time to chat, sleep, swim in the pool, or enjoy the beautiful grounds and surrounding area. The staff at Brunel Manor are excellent and we have built up a superb relationship with them.

However it is the unique privilege to be able to hear first hand what God is doing in many places throughout the world, and to be enthused to get involved with God's Mission that is so special. Many of those who attend have been associated with Crosslinks for many years, and some even from its birth in 1922! If you wanted to create an event that would allow you to experience the past 80 years of Crosslinks while still very much focussed on its future, the "Autumn Conference" would be it.

When Mr and Mrs Crawshaw were unable to attend, they wrote saying, "We were devastated when we realized we wouldn't be able to get to it."

For many, this event is the highlight of their year. Fred and Beryl Perryman said "Last year's conference at Brunel was so profitable in every way. It was another good conference and enhanced by having John and Anne Ball present."

Wilfred Moss, who has been connected with BCMS since its foundation and who has chaired the conference for many years turned his feelings into hymnody.

For the fellowship of Brunel,
Thanks be to God;
For our friends and fellow Christians,
Thanks be to God;
For His Word and Son our Saviour
Showing us such endless favour,
With countless joys ahead to savour,
Thanks be to God.

For the words from foreign fields;
Thanks be to God;
May they in prayer have plenteous yields;
Thanks be to God;
For our brethren from far lands,
Messengers for the pierced hands
And for all which Crosslinks stands,
Thanks be to God
