Graham
lives in Godalming, Surrey with his wife Rachel, who he met at All
Souls' Langham Place in the early eighties.
They have three children, Becki (13), Oliver (11) and Matthew
(6) and music plays quite a big role in family life.
Graham
enjoys classical music as a relaxation.
Rachel, a chartered accountant, plays the piano and the
violin - and manages to teach music for one afternoon a week. Becki plays the cello and has just passed her Grade 5 exams.
Oliver plays the piano and the trumpet and has just won a
music scholarship at the Royal Grammar School in Guildford, while
Matthew has yet to make his mark musically.
I
asked Graham what his impressions of Crosslinks were before he
arrived - and he told me, very diplomatically, that we were a bit
low profile. His
mission interests have been focussed on two people that he and
Rachel know well. One
of Rachel's cousins teaches theology in Northern Nigeria and one of
their friends is working with a mission agency in central Asia.
As
to the future, Graham said he hoped he could use the skills he had
gained in the business world to assist Crosslinks with the change
process it was currently undergoing.
"I hope we will get a clearer strategy for Crosslinks
itself," he said. "I
think we will have to unpack what it means to take God's Word to
God's World in the twenty first century.
Of course, I'd like to see the work expand, but we've got to
pray long and hard about the sort of work Crosslinks should be
doing. We can't do a
bit of everything."
