Mike Tyrrell

Crosslinks General Council member Mike Tyrrell died suddenly of a heart attack on 29 July while on a cycling holiday around Yorkshire with his family. The funeral was held on 7 August in Leamington Spa.

During the brief time he served Crosslinks he became a tremendous asset and support to both Council and staff members.

Crosslinks General Secretary Andy Lines said "I consider it a great privilege to have known Mike over the all-too-short period of his membership of the Crosslinks General Council. He was already known for arriving at everything on his fold-up bicycle. In such a short time he displayed not only his expertise and gifts but also his warm and thoughtful character. We, along with his wife Sidney and the family, will miss him greatly. We give grateful thanks to God for Mike but rejoice that he (and we) have been 'born again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, to obtain an inheritance which is imperishable and undefiled and will not fade away, reserved in heaven' for us (1 Peter 1:3-4, (NASB)."

Ivy Wankling

Ivy Wankling (1921-2002) trained as a nurse before going to work among the Shan people in Burma in 1949. She was soon engaged to Frank and they were married in 1951. The work that she loved was brought to an end by the recurrence of TB soon afterwards and it was felt safer for them to return to the UK.

However Burma had a strong influence on her life and she gave talks and shared stories about the country for the next 50 years. We thank God for her service and witness and for her support of Crosslinks.

Birth
