Reaching Out

April 2003 index

"I have Muslim neighbours but I don't know what to say to them."
"The teachers are talking about Divali - how can I prepare my children?"
"Crystals, aromatherapy, yoga - what is New Age all about?"

These sorts of questions are part of our daily lives. Crosslinks mission partners based in England give answers where they can but more is needed.

Faith to Faith is a national network that helps all Christians to understand and reach out to people of other faiths in the UK. Crosslinks supports and works with it, as do other mission agencies.

Helen Reid of Faith to Faith writes: "The love of God is the same and constant for all people and in all situations, but there are also particular considerations in mission among people of other faiths. We help Christians to learn about different faiths and how to share their faith with others. We produce, distribute and support local use of study courses on Buddhism, Islam, Sikhism and 'New Age' (with forthcoming courses on Judaism and Chinese Religion)." These studies help people to understand, and to learn how to share the Gospel of Christ sensitively, responsibly and effectively.

Faith to Faith aims to resource and connect people, organisations and churches who are already working in this field. A network of trainers links over 100 people, including some Crosslinks Members, Mission Partners and Regional Co-ordinators. They organise events, regular mailings and an e-group so that members can keep in touch, share resources and build good practice.

Crosslinks gives a grant to Faith to Faith to continue this valuable work and this year we have chosen it as one of our projects. If you would like to help, please send in your cheque made payable to Crosslinks and quote ref F2F.
