Wanted: Executive Assistant

August 2003 index

Together the Rich and Poor are one Church, but they need help to co-ordinate their resources.

Two years ago all the Anglican clergy in Tanzania assembled in Morogoro for their first meeting together. It was a gathering of Rich and Poor. The Rich had diocesan programmes of outreach to young people and work among those with HIV/AIDS; or good training facilities for their church leaders or pastors who had been well educated. The Poor only knew of their need. Some dioceses were both Rich and Poor.

  • Together the Rich and Poor are one Church, but they need help to co-ordinate their resources.

  • Like all countries there are difficulties and conflicts within the Tanzanian Church which can be helped by the skilful ministry of reconciliation.

Church in Africa - click to enlargeThese are two ways in which the Provincial office can serve the dioceses, but they need a trained Executive Assistant to the Provincial Secretary who can enable such things to happen. Crosslinks has supported the Church in Tanzania for 50 years and we are now being asked to help it stand on its own feet. They are not asking for a mission partner from the West or for an open-ended commitment.

£2000 a year for three years will help to provide a salary and put a Tanzanian in post.

Please consider how you can contribute towards this cause, and any money marked Fund: ACT sent to the London office would be much appreciated.
