Jesus said “The harvest is plentiful but the
workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest,
therefore, to send out workers into his harvest
field.” (Matthew 9:37-38). It’s a call to prayer
that’s as necessary today as in the first century.
Thirty years on, the Jewish scholar Saul,
converted and commissioned for his pioneering
evangelistic work, wrote as the Apostle Paul “to
all the saints in Christ Jesus at Philippi, together
with the overseers and deacons” telling them
“I always pray with joy because of your
partnership in the Gospel . . .” (Philippians 1:1-5).
Clearly Paul regarded his brothers and sisters in
the church at Philippi not merely as interested
onlookers to his missionary endeavours, but as
fellow-workers in the great enterprise of
proclaiming the Gospel of “Christ and him
crucified” to all mankind.
Now, at the beginning of the third Millennium,
Crosslinks is launching a new scheme designed
to help today’s churches with their ‘partnership
in the Gospel’ in world mission. It’s called
‘Stakeholder’ and it offers all the mission
agency resources a church needs to play its part
in fulfilling the command of Jesus to take God’s
Word beyond the parish boundary to God’s world.
The
Stakeholder scheme will be a tremendous
help to churches as it enables them to acquire a
stake in overseas mission work in co-operation
with others and actively participate in significant
mission initiatives that they couldn’t possibly
afford by themselves.
A
Stakeholder church will benefit from support
from the Crosslinks Regional Team, or the Ireland
Team. This includes the provision of everything
from information and advice on potential
Mission Partners & Projects through to a full
parish consultation on mission strategy.
Crosslinks Stakeholder churches will also gain
access to a range of multi-media materials, news
updates and, where appropriate, visiting
speakers and preachers.
God’s priority is salvation, so it’s his mission and
we are all his agents. Crosslinks Stakeholder is
an up to date vehicle for bible-based churches to
become involved in authentic Gospel work all
around the world.
