A growing Church

In recent years the centre of growth of the Christian Church has moved from the Western countries to the countries of the South. These fast-growing churches desperately need material resources to provide sound biblical and pastoral training for evangelists and pastors. In Tanzania one pastor may look after over 20 congregations. In the past we’ve brought people to Britain for training but now it is often available in their own countries. This is where best (Bursaries Enabling Strategic Training) can help.

Simply the
best

  • Like many of the supporting churches and individuals we consider this to be one of the best ways of partnering our sister churches. This is because:

  • Students often do their basic studies in their own country without the major culture shock in moving.

  • Studies focus on the issues which confront the students’ own society.

  • Studies cost much less than here. Typically in East Africa annual fees for a diploma course cost around £500.

  • Students receive biblical, evangelical teaching through colleges and institutions, many of which have Crosslinks mission partners on the staff or previous links with Crosslinks and BCMS.

Best brings people together. On the one hand there are the churches, individuals and groups like house-groups, men’s groups, women’s groups in the UK and Ireland. On the other hand there are
the evangelists and pastors in training in the global South. The opportunity exists for churches, individuals or groups to sponsor or part sponsor a student for a period of months or years.

Crosslinks has committed £80,000 to best this year but has more requests for sponsorship than it can meet. If you have £6.90 to spare a week – or anything more – could we ask you to pray about how it could best be used? We would love you to be part of what God is doing around the world.
