Following a smile trip to The Gambia in February plus a flying visit to Guinea Bissau, Sam will be going for an initial three-year placement, working with GAMFES, the fellowship of evangelical students in The Gambia. In the meantime he has not been idle! With a degree in Spanish and Portuguese under his belt, Sam has been busy leading house groups and Bible studies in his church, teaching Moore College materials, organising gap year projects, learning Greek and studying Islam at the London School of Theology – as well as raising funds for his forthcoming placement!

The Gambia is 89% Muslim, so his Islamic studies will prepare him for sharing the Gospel and training others in apologetics and evangelism. When Sam finally gets there, he hopes to help co-ordinate the Christian work on one of the campuses; write Bible study notes in Portuguese for use in Guinea Bissau; pioneer student work in the Cape Verde islands; and assist visiting
smile teams.
