They will beat their swords into ploughshares and their spears into pruning hooks. Nation will not take up sword against nation, nor will they train for war any more” Isaiah 2:4

Richard and Bianca Reeve are back in the UK from Mozambique where Richard has been helping the Christian Council of Mozambique with its arms amnesty project.

The project swaps guns for tools and aims to deal with the millions of arms in circulation following 19 years of civil war. Bianca has been working at the CARAN refuge centre for girls at risk, helping the girls there to understand God’s love for them.

The Reeves’ Christian Council contract will end soon, and during a break from visiting supporter churches Richard told us about plans for the future. “There are 350 million Christians in Africa, but the churches are short of trained personnel, finance, and technical resources. We have become deeply involved in our local church fellowship which has need of grass-roots development and discipleship programmes for its young and poor congregation, most of whom are unemployed. We are talking now with Crosslinks and our local church in Mozambique about how we can be used to address the particular set of needs that city congregation has and how we can impact the community where the church is located. Please pray for how that works out.”

As well as prayer, the Reeves will need financial support to carry on working in Mozambique.
