As the effects of the Asian tsunami fill our thoughts and prayers this year, we
see the importance of building, rebuilding and long-term support.
In January Andy Lines visited Myanmar, a country relatively well protected from
the Asian tsunami where the number of those who died was around 90. But the
area is already recovering from a cyclone that hit earlier in the year. It began to
rebuild and must do so again. Lives, confidence, structures are all affected.
Whether our partners are involved short-term, in places like Ethiopia, India and
Uganda, or long-term in the Arctic, we can be part of building the
Church. For some of us it will mean active service, for others financial support,
for all of us praying will make us part of this work.
We can be sure of one thing, we are not on our own. “Unless the Lord builds
the house, its builders labour in vain”. Psalm 127:1. Isn’t that good news?
