Be a Crosslinks Stakeholder church
If your church is able to consider a more formal link with a Crosslinks study partner or mission partner here's how:
Why bother?
It's helpful and encouraging for a mission partner or study partner to know that there are churches that have promised to support him or her regularly. A two way link can be established - which should benefit the church as well as Crosslinks. Financially, a promise of regular support helps both the church and Crosslinks to budget wisely. Crosslinks is not trying to "do" mission on it's own - it needs active involvement by churches.
How to do it
The first thing to do is to decide if the church or at least some members have an existing interest in some area of the world or some type of work that could be further stimulated by a suitable link with work that Crosslinks is involved in. If so that might be worth pursuing.
If there is no obvious existing interest that can be built upon, have a look at the sort of work that Crosslinks is involved in and decide what might be of most interest. For example: Crosslinks provides study bursaries for overseas pastors to further their studies. A link can be made to one of these people. If you think that a link with a mission partner working overseas is more appropriate, talk to Church Partnership Team and find out who might be best linked to your church.
What is involved?
A Crosslinks Stakeholder church promises to budget to give an agreed amount. It further agrees to support its link mission or study partner by prayer and by an active interest and care for their work. In return the Crosslinks partner should provide regular information and visit the church when on UK leave. (Note that visits by study partners may not be possible, as they often do not come to the UK)
Your next step
The sort of link that is best for you, and possible for Crosslinks to arrange, varies depending on where your church is and what Crosslinks partners are in need of new links at any particular time. So please contact the Crosslinks Church Partnerships Team to discuss the matter. |
