Engage -
A
conference for all engaged in ministry amongst British Asians and
Asian Churches - a chance to be
challenged, informed and encouraged
through creative worship,
prayer, fellowship, preaching, teaching and
discussion.
There will be excellent
speakers and a choice of seven learning streams
representing different facets
of our Christian discipleship: Engage in
God's Mission, in Christian
Social Action, with Christian Leadership,
with Sikhs, Muslims and Hindus,
with young people, with multi-cultural
Britain and with the Bible.
A vibrant programme is planned for children
and young people, with
expertise from Scripture Union and it is hoped
that the Asian youth
organisation, 9Javan, will be present.
Guest Speaker:
The Revd Canon George Kovoor,
an Indian Christian leader now Principal
of Trinity College in Bristol,
will tackle the fundamental issue of
engagement with God and our
response to worldly challenges. George,
from Delhi, is a Chaplain to
the Queen, is a regular speaker at Spring
Harvest and Greenbelt and has
previously been Principal of Crowther
Hall, (CMS training college)
and has worked in Derby.
This cross agency conference,
the fourth to be held under the Jewels
banner, brings together a
number of agencies engaged in cross cultural
mission: Alliance of Asian
Christians, Church Mission Society, East +
West Trust, Faith to Faith,
Scripture Union, South Asia Concern,
Southampton Asian Christian
Outreach Urban Vision and World Harvest.
