One Mission Partner in a difficult area updated us:
' We have had a very busy few days trying to access food... we have had some amazing stories to tell of how we have been in the right place at the right time to find almost a ton of maize, 180kg's of rice and 180 litres of cooking oil.
We had an exciting day on Friday distributing this food to 94 members of staff on our Campus. Some were in tears and all were so amazed that God had heard their prayers in such a miraculous way. Most of these people just did not know how they were going to put food on the table for their children and themselves and the rest were struggling to cope with day to day living. We will continue to provide in this way for several months.
The Bishop is still investigating having a well made deeper in a rural area. This will mean that a whole community will be able to grow food so a least another 100 will be helped in a sustainable way. The
Bishop will also come back to me with names of priests who are struggling.
On Monday I am making a 750 mile return trip to bring back more food. At present there is no bread here and it is predicted that maize will run out soon. There is always plenty of rice but this too expensive for ordinary people to buy but is something we can obtain using the money from Crosslinks. It provides an alternative to bread and maize.
I don't think you can have any idea just how much this donation has done to deepen the faith of these people as well as relieve their anxiety and show Christian love.
God Bless and thank you.'
