Crosslinks Day Click here for report and photos.

Crosslinks were delighted to welcome people to the first open day its 83-year history. (as far as we know!) On October 27th people across the UK and from further a field remembered the day when Crosslinks was founded. As well as the open day in the London office events were held in Nottingham, Eastbourne, Bournemouth, Chelmsford, Frinton-on-Sea and Belfast. The Dublin event was planned to coincide with the regular prayer meeting. In Ethiopia mission partner Karen Salmon, who promotes HIV/AIDS awareness to young people, combined her normal prayer meeting with a talk on the work of Crosslinks and a Crosslinks birthday cake! One visitor to the London office who joined in the programme of interactive talks said: “The speakers’ enthusiasm for God’s work was infectious. You can’t beat meeting one another face to face.” To read about what other visitors had to say please click here. Thank you to all those who took part, or who remembered Crosslinks in prayer.

Homeless Books

Crosslinks mission partner, David Williams, has a problem. Carlile College, Nairobi, where he is Principal, needs a new library building to house its growing stock of books. Work on the new building has come to a standstill through lack of funds, and David is currently storing 8000 of the college's books on the stairs. There will be a feature on Carlile College in November, but in the meantime readers may wish to send a contribution (c/o Crosslinks) to get building work restarted.

Making money in the slums

Crosslinks mission partner, Rachel Williams has been helping women in Kibera, one of the largest slums in Nairobi, with a self-help project.  The women make greeting cards from Kipawa paper, made from recycled paper which has been dyed and decorated.  The project provides a regular income for their families.

Kipawa cards are now available for sale in the UK.  You can buy some for yourself, you could buy some as Christmas presents - or you could become an agent and sell them at your church.
