Crosslinks 80th birthday events

All-Ireland Celebration Weekend 24 - 26 January 2003

"Roots take Wings"

To celebrate the 80th Anniversary of Crosslinks (BCMS), a day conference has been arranged for Saturday 25 January 2003, commencing at 10.00am to 10.00pm. Accommodation has been arranged in Glenada for those who wish to stay on Friday and Saturday evening. An informal programme will be organised for residents on Friday and Sunday.

"Roots take Wings" is the theme of the Conference which will focus on the fact that our roots established in 1922, have taken us to many parts of the world, with the gospel. We will be looking at the roots of Christian mission and how those roots are being challenged and stretched in this new century. Also how Crosslinks is planting the roots of the gospel in various parts of the world and how those roots are growing and maturing.

We are delighted that Martin & Elizabeth Goldsmith will be directing our thoughts during the Conference. Martin & Elizabeth worked in South-east Asia with OMF in the 1960's. On returning to the UK, they both taught at All Nations Christian College (where many of our Mission Partners train) from where they retired a few years ago. They are both active in writing and speaking at major international Christian Conferences. They have done much with Crosslinks in preparation, teaching and the encouragement of staff and Mission Partners. They have much to teach us and challenging things to say about our effectiveness as Christians in the world today.

The programme for the day will be varied, including Bible readings, seminars, visual presentations, reports from home and overseas, praise, prayer and fellowship. The evening will conclude with a celebration of our 80 years in music and songs and much, much more ... not to be missed! There will be a separate children's programme and crèche.

This is an all-Ireland, all-age Conference, so we hope there will be representation from north and south of the border. Please take advantage of the use of accommodation. Transport to/from stations can be provided.

For catering purposes, it is important that all those intending to eat at Glenada, book in advance. No meals will be bookable on the day. Lunch will consist of baked potato, salad, tea/coffee and cakes. High Tea will be gammon, peas, potatoes, bread, butter & jam with tea/coffee. Followed by apple crumble and custard.
