Isn't there a cheaper way of doing it?

Sending mission partners overseas is relatively expensive - but often that is still the best way we can work in partnership with the local church. Someone coming from overseas may be able to provide skills in short supply locally. A mission partner from Britain is also able to visit his or her link churches and communicate what they are doing easily. Partnerships are therefore easily established, bringing benefits for UK churches and the Crosslinks work.

However, through the BEST programme we are also helping to train overseas based local Christians to become more effective. They usually have a much better understanding of local language and culture than someone from the UK would have. But they are unlikely to visit supporting churches in the UK, and may not be able to speak English fluently. So partnerships are much more difficult to establish. Crosslinks is trying to encourage churches to be more accepting of this sort of partner - believing that in many cases it is the best way of using limited financial resources.

Crosslinks also uses appropriate technology where it is possible. To this end we have been involved in radio broadcasting. Such means can be another effective way of spreading God's Word.

In summary, Crosslinks is committed to using money entrusted to it wisely - and tries to think deeply and imaginatively about how best to do this.
