Why Pray - doesn't God know everything already?

It is true that God knows everything - but the Bible makes it clear that he still likes us to talk to him. God wants us to love him, and he loves us - so it makes sense for there to be regular communication. He likes us to share our love, our concerns and our needs with him.  Jesus taught his first followers to call God their Father - so much more than a distant all powerful being. When we go to God as our Father and tell him our needs we show that we love him, trust him, and are dependent on him. We can also tell him how we love and appreciate him.

That's why it makes sense to pray to God - and it is certainly something that the Bible tells us to do, and something which Jesus himself did while he was on earth as well as teaching his followers to do.
