Dear friends and family,
Greetings to you from Walsall in the name of the Lord! How are you all doing? We trust that by his grace, all is well with you. So much has happened since our last prayer letter, we will try to fill you in as much as possible. Stay tuned!
Family news

One of the most exciting things that have happened to us recently was the birth of our little girl Dunsin. As most of you already know she was born on the 24th of June 2007. Dunsin is now four months old, and has been a great source of joy and fun to the whole family. The boys are really excited about their little sister they always shower her with cuddles and kisses.
Demi started nursery this September, the first few days were a little bit difficult at first but now he is very excited about going to school. Dara has started full time school and he’s really enjoying it, he’s enjoying learning to read this year.
We were bereaved earlier this year; Kola lost his older brother who died suddenly after a brief illness. It was a sad shock for the whole family. He had a young family and two small children both under 3 years old. Kola was able to go home to visit his family in Nigeria. We were grateful he was able to go, he saw for himself how God had comforted his whole family and that helped him a lot.
We were blessed to have Ada’s Mum with us before and after the baby was born, she was a great help to us. We’ve found things are different with three children! It hasn’t been so easy but God has given us grace and we are beginning to get a hang of things now and get a rhythm.
The Work so far
God has continued to bless the work here so far. Before we tell you more about our work, some of you may be wondering what we are doing now, because in our last prayer letter we asked you to pray about our next move, because Kola’s contract was ending in September. Well, Kola’s contract was renewed for another year so Kola is still working as a youth minister with
St Matthews church Walsall.
ST MATTHEWS YOUTH GROUP
Friday socials
There has been a great increase in the numbers attending these meetings; we have had as many as 37 young people on the Friday meetings. We usually have different fun group activities during the meeting. We now have a lot of unchurched people attending. We have started taking out a few minutes on the Friday to introduce the Christian message through the Nooma series.
Bluecoat school
Kola’s commitment at Bluecoat is on the increase as a result of more pupils attending the Christian Union meetings. This has resulted in some of the pupils taking active parts in leading and sharing of the Word of God.
Also the Discipleship class is seeing depth in the Christian experience of members as their faith continues to grow. The zeal of the members to live out their lives as disciples of Christ is manifesting quite clearly and also the questions that is been asked reflect the level of maturity among them.
Weekend away and soul survivor
Earlier in the year Kola and some of the other youth leaders took the young people from the church and bluecoat school on a weekend away. It was well attended; we had 24 young people and 6 leaders. It was a great time in the presence of God as we were able to worship and be ministered to having looked into His word about ‘created in His image’.
In August a team of 61 people (54 young people and leaders) went for the soul survivor conference the young people had a great time hearing from God and being ministered to, and about five of them made commitments to Jesus for the first time!
LIGHT HOUSE CAFÉ
Drop in sessions
These sessions has been attracting a lot of young people into the St Matthew’s Centre from Bluecoat school and Joseph Lekkie school and this has created an avenue to interact and chat with non church young people who have been asking questions about the Christian faith. The regular attendance varies between 18 and 35 young people. The Walsall youth council has been providing volunteer youth workers to assist at the centre as result of increase in numbers. It has also serves as a good platform and forum to build rapport, relationship and network among young people and other youth workers.
Home work project: The centre won a bid from the Walsall youth council, so we were able to buy some computers and other things to start the home work project. We hope to be able to start this up after half term.
Dance group: The dance group is doing quite well. We have had to stop for sometime when Ada became too pregnant to continue. We have still not been able to have a proper meeting yet, but the kids are quite keen to start dancing again. We hope to start as soon as possible.
Prayer & Praise
1. Praise God for his blessing, protection and provision for us as a family.
2. Praise God for the safe delivery of Dunsin
3. Praise God for Tom, Simon and Joyce who have been a blessing in working alongside Kola with the youth group.
4. Praise God for providing the computers to start the homework project.
5. Please pray for the CYFA- We have not had a lot of young people attending, we want more interest from the young people, and an increase in the number that people that attend.
6. Pray that God leads and directs us to the next step he has for us after September 2008
7. Pray for continuous protection and extra provision for us as a family
