Button, Dan & Rosie, UgandaPrayer Update July 2007 Dear everyone, This bulletin is coming out a little earlier than usual in the month since we are going away tomorrow (27th June) for two weeks. We are going to Dallas for Dan’s sister Sarah’s wedding to Jonathan. We are glad to have the chance to see Dan’s family as well as to celebrate such a happy occasion. Abigail and Alex will both participate in the wedding and Dan will officiate part of the celebration. The wedding will take place on July 7th. Do pray for the day and for safe travels for us there and back. Thank you for your prayers over the last few weeks. We were happy to hear from Paul Kakooza, who I mentioned last time, that his mother’s health is much improved. The family are all very relieved, as it did look pretty serious. That is a great answer to prayer. Please pray for a former Zimbabwean student of ours who we are in touch with, called Obvious Vengeyi. He is hoping to do a Masters at Redcliffe College in Gloucester, starting in September. He has been accepted and has a half scholarship for that but it is so hard for him to raise the other half given the financial situation there. Since getting back from his conference Dan has been busy fitting in lectures and also supervising 3rd year students in their dissertations, which is surprisingly demanding. The Women in Ministry fellowship has met twice, in spite of a struggle to find a time we could all get together. Due to the large number of first year students, the group has grown to over twenty now, and they are very eager to meet and discuss issues relevant to their lives and ministry. They have also asked me to organize sessions for them (separately from our fellowship) on cake-making for large functions, flower-arranging and the making of altar cloths!! Whilst this is NOT what I really had in mind for this group, they do insist that as women leading rural parishes, they will need to be able to do these things! I am thinking of enlisting some capable women with relevant experience for these practical things, - please pray that I will be able to get it organized for them. June is also a busy month for our family with birthdays. I have celebrated becoming forty. So far only one person has made the mistake of calling me middle-aged, and he knows who he is… I still feel about 25, which is the main thing. Abigail has just turned seven. She has also lost her first two teeth. We celebrated with a horse cake and many horse-related gifts – she is so enjoying doing some riding at a stables in Kampala. Both Abby and Alex are very well, and glad to be on school holidays from tomorrow. Please also pray for a team who is coming out for two and a half weeks from mid-August. They are coming from St Giles, Derby, one of our link churches. Planning is underway but please pray that the visits and experiences we set up will go well and be valuable for them and for their hosts. Thank you as always for your prayers, letters and support. With our love and thanks, Rosie Dan Abigail and Alex.
