Prayer Letter January 2005

“I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me” Phil 4:13

Ministry News in Streatham, London

Afri’s health is getting better. Afri still travels to London from Birmingham every fortnight. He is pastoring an Asian congregation on a part time basis. He has visited nearly all in the membership list and is now looking into starting Bible studies with new Christians. He is training some folks in evangelism to Shopkeepers on Fridays. In the Christmas celebration, nearly 80 people turned up - all from the Asian background. They are currently using Rick Warren’s book, “Purpose Driven Church” for preaching purposes. He was 50 recently and still has lots of black hair.

Faith Ministry in Birmingham

When in Birmingham Afri and Pam run a discipleship group with Asians from a Sikh background. Lately the ladies have been keen to meet and help to inform the others. This was an encouragement.

On Christmas Eve, we celebrated with Christmas carols with an unsaved Punjabi family, and an inquiring English man. We were able to visit our unsaved family members. Many gospel calendars in community languages were given. On Boxing Day, we had a surprise opportunity to give our testimonies and a short gospel presentation on Sky radio channel. This was broadcast in Slough and reached local areas and India too! One lady we visited over Christmas has attended church with a friend.

Afri is also a co-coordinator for the “Just 10” Outreach events in our local church

Afri continues to do a local outreach to the Asians on Wednesdays. This outreach is in a predominantly Muslim area. We have had good conversations with English and Asian folks.

  Giving out tracts

As a family, we are also involved in a new Bengali Fellowship working along with a Bengali Pastor. The boys sing specials. This fellowship has just started on a bi- monthly basis. There are around 400,000 Bengalis who are unreached here in the U.K.

Pam’s Ministry

Pam has started her back to Nursing course .This involves attending lectures on Fridays and Clinical experience on the ward. There is a hold up in this and she needs prayer that she gets a placement quickly.
Pam and Afri are also doing an “ECDL” computer course with a qualification valid in Europe on Thursdays.
Pam is learning to adjust to being a student again. Pray for her as she does not want to neglect the children and has to dust with their allergies!

Children’s News

All doing well in studies .Simeon was asked to do special classes in wood carving as a talented/gifted child programme.Benji proudly brings home teacher notes for work well done. Judah is stable in his studies and has lovely writing. He plays guitar in the Asian group. All are doing well in music. They sang in church and had some ladies in tears. One lady gifted in music has offered to give them voice lesson.
