Prayer Update April 2006
This prayer item is urgent, and needed all the time: safety for Crosslinks, mission partners, study partners and staff. Carol Derbyshire writes:
I thought I also ought to tell you and the other Crosslinks staff that we are glad to be alive. Over Easter MAF had a conference at Moshi. We were on an afternoon MAF flight, scheduled to stop at Haydom on the way so that the pilot could collect a medical team he had taken to a village that morning and return them to the hospital. On approach the plane hit terrible weather, skidded on landing on a dirt strip, was caught by a crosswind that blew us in to the sisal at the side of the runway. That stopped us rather quickly!! We all got out rather shocked but unharmed. The plane was much, worse than we were and the engineers are now trying to decide if it is
salvageable or not. We think it may be but MAF does not have the necessary staff to send to do it. This makes it quite hard for Tim to leave right now, but the extra week we've offered to stay won't make that much difference. It feels like MAF is under attack right now - other planes have been discovered with problems and we are down to a fleet of two serviceable planes, and AVgas is short. We would value your prayers. God is good and takes care of us in amazing ways. Without his protection last week, who knows what would have happened.
