Prayer Update December 2006

I am writing to say a very big thank you for the support you have given
through Crosslinks for the work in Tanzania over the past three years.

I have now reached retirement age and in Tanzania one is not allowed to
continue as a Bishop after that time. That does not apply in UK so I have
offered to help the Bishop of Chester as an Honorary Assistant Bishop in
this diocese.

This has come at a good time in that all the objectives I was given have
been more than fulfilled and next year we expect to have a Tanzanian Bishop
of Kiteto.

I am attaching a report of what has been done over the last three years. The
Tanzanians, along with other volunteers from the UK, have enabled God to
work wonders and I can but rejoice that with your help I have had the
privilege to serve at this time.

Of course the work continues and Crosslinks will continue to support the
work there through the ministry of Revd Peter Mkengi who is one of the best
people I have come across in my forty years of ministry. He is Dean of
Studies and covers the vital role of training pastors.

I do realise you undertook a three year commitment and I want you to feel
completely released from that. Should you wish to continue your support then
can I suggest that this might be channelled through Crosslinks for Peter.
Mkengi.

I do have a large collection of visuals some of which are in PowerPoint
format and I would happily send a CD of these if it would help bring the
work to life.

Over recent weeks I have been undergoing tests for very early cancer and
expect an operation in the new year. Anne's health is still not good enough
for her to travel with me so we are looking forward to more time together.

God willing, I hope to spend 2-3 weeks in Tanzania next June and will
continue to visit while health permits.

Once more with many thanks for your support.

John
