Prayer Letter December 2006 (for Acrobat pdf version click here)

Dear Family & Friends in Christ,

Greetings from Dapaong in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ. We are back now in Togo after an excellent time in UK visiting family, friends and churches. We would like to thank you all for your warm welcome and hospitality.

It was good to settle back into life in Dapaong after a lot of travelling. The children had missed our two dogs ( Jedi and Peachou ) and were glad to see them.

FAMILY NEWS

We are all doing well at the moment but went through a time of malaria when we first came back. The malaria has become a bit more resistant here in West Africa and consequently many people are sicker than usual. There are now new combinations of drugs to treat people.

The tribe members have a few words for you :

Johan : I’m over a year now and I enjoy playing football with my brother and daddy. My favourite game is to chase around our dog Peachou so that I can pull its hears or tail. Strangely, Peachou doesn’t like that very much. Could you believe it I’ve now got eight teeth and enjoying eating meat.

Eloise : Hello! I am happy to be back because I can now enjoy african food again. My favourite snack is called “ Kouklouie ”. It is a local biscuit made with peanuts. It is better than any biscuit in the world. You should try.

Joshua: I am now five!. I am missing a bit my friends and cousins in England. I like to make different machines and to do science experiments. I have started school and it is fun. I am learning lots of things. I can’t wait to learn to read.

Jane : Adjusting back has taken more time than expected. I am missing England a bit but enjoying all the tropical fruits in season here at the moment.

Séna : It is good to be back at work. I was missing the church and my leaders. I am pleased to see my family and discover that my younger sister had given her life to Jesus while we were away. Praise God.

Please pray For: The Malaria condition here especially amongst the children. God’s protection for our family.

MINISTRY:

The Church in Dapaong is sending their greetings and want to thank all of you who are praying for them and especially those who helped us to buy some bibles. We managed to buy 40 bibles. They are very precious and expensive here so thank you again.

Jane and I are thankful to God because the church was in good shape when we came back. The leaders had matured and the church has grown. However we have lost some of our members for different reasons and the cell in Tantigou is not so well. We have started now a new and promising cell in a place called Tantouatré ( about 6km away) to meet the need of about 30 people who had started coming regularly to church.

Sena and 3 other pastors from different denominations have started a weekly radio programme on Thursday nights. This is in the form of discussion of various topics from a biblical point of view with people phoning with questions. Our current theme for a month is marriage. This is challenging in many ways please pray for us.

Please pray for: The church to grow in their understanding of worship and for our new children group ( 11-14 year olds ) and their leaders Daniel, Fousséni and Abou.

Please pray for these coming events

  • Sunday 10th December: Harvest Thanksgiving Day.

  • The 16th and 17th of December: Two days evangelism followed by Jesus film on 22nd and 23rd of December.

  • The 31st of December: All night prayer. Please send us your prayer requests as we’ll be praying for our support churches and friends.

  • 2nd to 12th January: Family time in Lomé.

  • 20th January: A retreat day for all our leaders.

  • From 22nd of January to the 16th of February Séna will be involved in teaching and translating during a month teaching seminar for local pastors.

We wish you a very Happy Christmas and God bless you ! Lots of Love in Christ from

Sena, Jane, Joshua, Eloise and Johan
