Crosslinks' Mission Statement

Crosslinks is an international mission agency with its roots in the Bible and its principal sphere of operations in the worldwide Anglican Communion.

Our prime focus is making Christ known through the proclamation and teaching of God’s Word in the power of the Holy Spirit. We are enthusiasts for creative worldwide mission: our slogan is ‘God’s word to God’s World.’

Crosslinks supports workers across cultural and other boundaries. We co-operate with churches and mission and relief agencies, sponsor students and encourage mission links worldwide – all within our prime focus.

Crosslinks' aim is
to make known the redeeming love of God in Christ crucified and risen and to make disciples of all nations by ensuring that God's Word is clearly proclaimed by word and deed in the power of the Holy Spirit, through

* developing reciprocal partnerships for mission worldwide;
* responding to opportunities presented by the world Church;
* encouraging Christians to support the work of evangelism, training and service.

Values
Our evangelical convictions are reflected in our Basis of Faith. We aim to adopt policies and strategies which are based on scriptural principles and we wish ourselves and our policies to be tested by those principles.

The atoning death and resurrection of Christ has a central place within Scripture which we wish to reflect in our teaching and actions.

Evangelism
We proclaim Christ as the only Lord and Saviour.

Partnership
We seek to establish good and open relationships with our partners-in-mission world-wide and build our policies in collaboration with them.
We seek to serve not to control, to listen not to dictate to all our partners in mission.
We wish to co-operate with other mission agencies as appropriate.

Lifestyle
We aim to live in ways which relate to the culture and circumstances of the people to whom we are sent, just as Jesus did when he became human in a particular place and time.
We wish our mission partners to be enablers with a view to handing over to local Christian leadership a locally sustainable ministry.

Accountability
We are accountable primarily to God and secondarily to our partners and members for our stewardship and actions.

Pastoral care
We will exercise mutual pastoral care with our colleagues and partners.

Theology
We will promote high standards of biblical and theological scholarship in order to facilitate effective biblical mission.

Flexibility
Believing that God has always taken the initiative in his mission, we aim to be proactive in setting an overall policy but also to be responsive to a wide variety of particular calls to mission.
We aim to be flexible in the way we interpret our regulations, so that we meet the real, and changing, needs of ourselves and our partners.

Holistic mission
We will follow holistic patterns of mission, in accordance with the example of Jesus Christ.

Membership
We will educate our supporters about mission today and about the ministries and needs of our partner Churches with a view to giving and receiving from one another.
We seek mission partners of any nationality to serve in suitable locations anywhere in the world.

We aim to help people of all ages to recognise their vocation and develop the gifts God has given them in appropriate tasks and locations.

We seek to offer people a variety of opportunities to experience Christian mission in cultures other than their own.

Working Guidelines

1 In the light of our Basis of Faith, worship and prayer are our first priorities so that, under the authority of Scripture, we may be open to the direction of the Holy Spirit.

2 We seek to provide biblical, evangelical witness in all regions, especially where this has been lacking.

3 We recognise the strategic importance of cities, and aim to use every possible means to facilitate urban mission.

4 We will seek in every possible way to support Christian Churches which experience special pressures of poverty, injustice or persecution.

5 We recognise the strategic role of the Churches of Africa, Asia and Latin America in mission, and will accordingly promote new South-South partnerships and bring partners to Europe.

6 We will seek to understand and bear effective Christian witness among people of other faiths.

7 We will aim to grow in understanding of contemporary society in order to witness more effectively to the Gospel.

8 In co-operation with others, we will work responsibly to meet human need of all kinds, develop health, education and agriculture, and promote justice in the world and care for the environment.

9 We will afford priority to those partnerships where there is a real prospect of the mission partner's role being soon taken over by local people.

10 We will seek to be good stewards of our resources by supporting those Churches whose leaders plan wisely and co-operate with other Christian groups in their region.

11 Recognising that God has frequently used small, grassroots movements in his work of mission rather than large, prestigious projects, we will readily support the development of such local movements.

12 We will consult widely so that those people who have specialist qualifications may be led to serve in the most appropriate locations.

13 All mission partners should be adequately resourced for their ministry, within the constraints of what is sustainable in terms of the local culture.
